We’re currently seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse/OB Tech (LPN) to join our Obstetrics Department at our Ontario location.
Position Overview
Assists the OB/GYN physicians and RNs in both clinical and clerical duties. Performs selected patient care tasks within the OB Unit under the direction of an RN including, but not limited to, preparing patients and equipment for special obstetric surgical procedures, assisting the obstetrical surgical team as a scrub during Cesarean Sections and other surgical procedures in the OB Unit, maintaining surgical and other equipment and ensuring adequate supply levels for the OB surgical room at all times. Gathers data, plans and implements the nursing care of patients within the nursing unit under the supervision of an RN. Responsible for ensuring continuity of care of the patients between shifts by providing direct care as well as assisting with the care given by nursing assistants and supportive staff members. Participates in patient and family teaching. Maintains role as patient advocate with a focus on the facility’s mission.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current BLS certification or within three (3) months of hire date.
- Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification per policy.
- Previous experience working as a Unit Clerk, STNA, Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant, or LPN.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in State of Ohio.
Preferred:
- Current Certification as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) or applicable work experience working as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk, Surgical Tech or Medical Assistant.
- Previous experience working on an Obstetrics Unit.
- One year of experience as an OB Tech/Scrub Tech/LPN.
