Job Description

We currently have an opportunity on our Revenue and Financial Systems Accounting team. This team plays a critical role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting operational decision making, and ensuring compliance in a regulated environment.

This role is well-suited for an accounting professional who is comfortable working with modern financial systems and evolving technology and who brings a continuous improvement mindset. Successful candidates demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance data quality while supporting accounting, reporting, and business needs in a changing systems environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with the ability to learn new systems quickly, leverage technology and data effectively, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and support timely, accurate financial information.

Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Ensures assigned responsibilities are completed, accounted for and reported properly.
  • Thoroughly understands all aspects of assigned accounting processes. Identifies accounting issues and resolutions within a timely manner. Keeps management informed of accounting issues and progress of task completion.
  • Support company compliance by staying up to date on current accounting regulations impacting assigned responsibilities.
  • Research accounting regulations and/or changing requirements and applies them to the company’s transactions. Assures the integrity, accuracy and reliability of accounting and financial information provided by the group.
  • Research and provide capital and operations and maintenance determinations to internal customers.
  • Prepare monthly closing journals and account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Respond to questions of internal customers, auditors, and commission staff.
  • Collaborate with team members and co-workers across the Company to create process improvements/efficiencies.
  • Understand and comply with SOX procedures and controls.
  • Research accounting issues, prepares complex analysis, provides recommendations on creative solutions and comprehensive advice to inform management decision making.
  • Ensures company compliance with professional, management and regulatory accounting requirements by implementing necessary changes within function as a result of current developments.
  • Performs analysis of complex accounting transactions for internal and/or external customers.


Requirements

Accounting Analyst III

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, accounting, general business, tax, statistics or a related field is required.
  • 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the theory and practices of related accounting field.
  • Demonstrated depth of technical competency indicating mastery of the theory and practice of the subject area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and big picture understanding of major business processes and operations.


Hiring Range: $88,336 to $114,838

Accounting Analyst Senior Includes The Requirements For III Plus

  • 8 years of progressive responsibility in accounting.
  • Requires the capacity to work with peers, external auditors, and management.
  • Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, internal controls and regulatory rules/regulations is required.
  • Demonstrate effective and flexible verbal and written communication skills, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of technical expertise across financial and non-financial systems.
  • Ability to complete an advanced level of work through independent decision making.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and other applications is desirable.
  • Demonstrated informal leadership preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Masters in accounting, finance, economics, general business, tax, or statistics preferred.
  • Utility revenue accounting experience preferred, with decoupling experience strongly desired.


Hiring Range: $100,378 to $131,496

Other Combinations Of Education And Experience May Be Considered.

This position is temporary status. Throughout the duration of the role, an employee's employment and benefit status will be that of a temporary employee. This role may be filled on a regular basis without further competition at the conclusion of the assignment by the employee selected for the temporary status role.

Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the manager.

In compliance with state laws, we provide the full salary range for each position, along with the typical hiring range based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
