This role requires both technical expertise and a proactive approach to client relationship management. As a Tax Manager, you will serve as a primary point of contact for many clients, building trust, identifying planning opportunities, and ensuring timely, responsive service. You’ll also mentor junior team members, contribute to internal initiatives, and help advance our firm’s mission of providing clarity and confidence in a complex tax landscape.Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor and relationship manager for assigned clients, ensuring responsive and proactive client experienceManage and review individual and business tax returnsLead tax planning and research efforts for individuals and businessesIdentify opportunities to deepen client relationships through integrated planning and collaboration with other service linesSupervise, coach, and develop junior team membersContribute to internal process improvements, training initiatives, and firm culturePrepare various tax returns and conduct researchReview staff work and provide guidance as neededRepresent clients with IRS, State or local tax compliance issues. Apply knowledge of GAAP and client financial statements to tax preparationIdentify and suggest resolutions for technically advanced tax issuesDeliver concise and accurate work products in written and oral formDemonstrate advanced computer literacy with relevant software programsPerform complex technical research and prepare research memosRetain and apply knowledge from past engagementsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clients through ongoing communication and exceptional serviceIdentify opportunities to expand services to clientsCultivate new client relationships through referrals and networkingStay current on technical matters through training and self-study1,400 billable hours at 90 % realizationOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or adequate experience in lieuMinimum of five years tax experience CPA or EA certification is typically requiredUnderstands the full structure of a 1040 to include most supporting schedulesUnderstands accounting principles for $25mm revenue or smaller passthrough entitiesSpecializes in several industriesCan make AJEs, RJEs, FJEs, and STJEs based on logic without prior year or supervisionCan set up a tax return in CCH Engagement from scratch and apply automation for the next yearCan teach others moderate tax returns and the procedures to fully prepare a tax returnCan review moderate tax returns and portions of a larger complex projectCan prepare a moderate tax return with no errorsCan manage a full client book while onboarding additional clientsCan have strategic tax conversations with clients Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulationsStrong understanding of tax regulations at the federal, state and local levelsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient in relevant software programsStrong attention to detail and analytical skillsAbility to work overtime as neededAbility to work effectively in a team environmentDesire to always be learning and contributingNote: This job description is subject to change and may be modified as per the organization's requirements. Salary : $121,400 - $159,100
