- Apply MIL-STD-882E and Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH) methodologies to assess and mitigate software-related hazards
- Develop and refine software safety targets and requirements aligned with FLRAA program objectives
- Conduct and facilitate safety analyses including:
- Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Software Safety Analysis Report (SwSAR)
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to build evidence-based safety cases for software-intensive systems
- Maintain and manage Hazard Tracking Logs (HTL) to ensure traceability and closure of safety items
- Prepare and deliver safety documentation for milestone reviews and certification processes
- Communicate technical findings clearly to internal stakeholders, Army customers, and external partners
- Ensure compliance with AMCOM Regulation 385-17 and DO-178C (up to DAL A) where applicable
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
- 9 years of relevant experience (or MS with 7 years, PhD with 4 years).
- Proven expertise in software safety engineering across large, complex systems.
- Deep understanding of hazard analysis techniques and safety case development.
- Proficiency with tools such as DOORS, LDRA, Scade, and VxWorks.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in high-pressure environments.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and influence across engineering disciplines.
- Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Experience supporting DoD aviation or weapons systems preferred
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and environments is preferred for this position
