Med Tech Job Qualifications

• Current and active Med Tech certification in the state of Wisconsin.
• 1 year experience as a Med Tech in a skilled nursing setting is preferred.
  
  
  

Med Tech Job Overview

The primary purpose of a Med Tech is to provide quality nursing care to our residents, as well as to work in harmony with facility nurses to pass medication. Med Techs can explain to residents the nature of any procedures they may be facing with upcoming visits, as well as assist with any telehealth appointments. Med Techs can take blood pressure or temperatures of any residents, or administer first aid for any accidents.

Med Tech Job Responsibilities

• Follows current standards of hygiene, safety and infection control when handling, storing and disposing of medications.
• Takes and records vital signs upon administration of medications when required.
• Recognizes the resident's right to refuse medication.
• Notifies the appropriate RN/LPN when making the decision not to administer medication or treatment.
• Clarifies any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed nurse (RN/LPN).
• Monitors residents who self-administer medications and report deviation from the plan of care to the licensed or registered nurse.
• Secures medication cart.
• Removes discontinued, outdated or deteriorated drugs from inventory.
• Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions for medication provision.
• Accurately documents medication provision.
• Recognizes and reports general reactions to medications.
