What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Mathematics Instructors position at Avila University and Careers?
The School of STEM at Avila University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors for part-time Math courses. Courses include: Lectures and/or labs for Mathematical Literacy, College Algebra, and Elementary Probability and Statistics.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct all class sessions according to the assigned schedule.
- Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
- Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences.
- Work effectively with the program Chair.
- Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities or a Master’s degree in another area with 18 credit hours of discipline graduate coursework from an accredited university/college.
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred).
- Experience with a Learning Management System such as Canvas (preferred).
- Experience with effective methods for engaging students through online learning (preferred)
- Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves firstgeneration college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
- Multilingual skills highly preferred.
