What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Engineer - Utility Poles position at Avient?
The Field Engineer - Utility Poles is responsible for providing technical service to electric utility customers of Avient GridCore T M FRP Composite utility poles and its appurtenances. The successful candidate will support product launch through helping to develop and refine technical communications and procedures sent to customers. Support customer installations by traveling to the job-site, and actively participate in the resolution of customer complaints. Requires two-plus years of direct, relevant work experience with the ability to operate with minimal direction.
Essential Functions
Review customer specifications and communicate with inside technical and quality groups to ensure correct understanding of the specification and our capabilities. Lead or participate in technical discussions with customers.
Assist customers in sizing the appropriate GridCore T M pole based on height and class requirements.
Work with Estimator to prepare quotes
Prepare product specifications incorporating Avient products and services into customer applications
Support initial customer installations on the job-site, working directly with the line crews.
Participates in resolution of customer complaints/issues onsite, with support by the inside technical group. Issue final report as appropriate.
Develop customer handling and installation guidelines and conduct customer training. Ensure all activities are in line with Safety & Health principles. Proactively support safe working environment and assess all potential hazards.
Collaborate within our global technology team and cross functional teams including marketing, sourcing, manufacturing, commercial, and regulatory to ensure alignment of the technical service activities.
Provide feedback, advice for technology, engineering, and/or product improvements based on customer feedback.
Create and manage technical data sheets.
Lead and coordinate with the plant technical trials and transfers: process, testing plans, data analysis, and communication of results.
Product development and testing: with guidance, develop products meeting customer specifications, quality and operation standards based on input from the technology team.
Support raw material evaluation and selection.
Travel of 20%-40% of the time may be required.

Education and Experience
Associate's Degree required in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering, or electric utility related discipline.
Experience in power distribution is strongly preferred. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, utility line work, utility installation contractor, power structural designer, specifier, and estimator.
Proficient in design using CAD.
