Pump Foreman
The Pump Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the installation, repair, and maintenance of pump systems, including submersible, centrifugal, and booster configurations. This position ensures that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Pump Foreman provides hands-on technical support, supervises daily field operations, coordinates materials and equipment, and serves as a key liaison between project management and field personnel. Strong leadership, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills are essential to ensure quality workmanship and timely project completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of pump systems (submersible, centrifugal, booster, and related water system components).
- Inspect pump systems for performance issues, identify faults, and coordinate timely repairs.
- Verify that installations are performed in compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and customer expectations.
- Prepare and organize parts, materials, and supplies for assigned projects.
- Direct daily field activities of installers, helpers, and laborers on pump-related projects.
- Coordinate work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure that progress remains on time and within scope.
- Ensures efficient, timely, and proper installation of pump systems.
- Communicate to supervisor about work progress, challenges, and material needs.
- Maintain accurate timecards, work logs, and job-related documentation.
- Enforce AvidWater’s safety procedures, PPE requirements, and compliance with OSHA standards.
- Conduct safety briefings and field inspections to ensure adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all equipment and job sites are maintained in safe, orderly condition.
- Train and mentor new pump installers and helpers.
- Coordinates with subcontractors hired for projects.
- Directs all installers and labor contractors and ensures progress stays on schedule and addresses any staffing issues.
- Serve as a role model for work ethic, safety awareness, and customer service.
- Provide feedback to supervisor regarding crew performance and skill development needs.
- Works with each direct report to establish goals and monitors the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, pumps, generators, backhoes, forklifts, and related construction tools.
- Schedule routine maintenance of tools and machinery used in pump operations.
- Interface professionally with clients and contractors on-site to ensure satisfaction with completed work.
- Report to supervisor with daily project updates and performance summaries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in pump installation, service, and maintenance; preferably in agricultural, industrial, or municipal water system settings.
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical systems, hydraulics, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Certified Crane Operator (NCCCO or equivalent) preferred.
- Additional coursework or certification in pump mechanics, water systems, or fluid handling equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret pump layouts.
- Familiarity with hydraulic principles, pump performance testing, and troubleshooting methods for mechanical and flow-related issues.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and field documentation procedures.
- Leadership and communication skills for managing crews and coordinating with project management.
- Computer literacy for completing work orders, timecards, and project documentation.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
