Avid Systems is seeking an experienced Software Asset Management Specialist to support a public-sector technology environment focused on Microsoft licensing, O365 entitlement management, software compliance, and IT asset management.
This role is ideal for a senior SAM professional with strong experience managing Microsoft Enterprise Agreements, Microsoft Volume Licensing, O365/Azure subscriptions, software true-ups, entitlement analysis, and ServiceNow-based software asset management.
This is an onsite position in Washington, DC. Candidates must be located in the DMV area — Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia — and must be able to report onsite as required.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will support the management of enterprise software assets and licensing compliance across the DC Government software environment. Responsibilities include:
- Manage and analyze software license entitlements, purchase records, contracts, EULAs, Enterprise Agreements, O365 subscriptions, and Azure subscriptions.
- Use Microsoft licensing portals, MVL, O365, and related tools to validate software purchases, entitlements, and compliance.
- Lead software license reconciliation, entitlement analysis, and final license position reporting.
- Support Microsoft SAM engagements, true-up activities, and software compliance reviews.
- Work with vendor managers, product owners, application managers, engineers, and agency stakeholders to collect and manage licensed software asset information.
- Ensure license records, software agreements, contracts, installations, and hardware linkages are accurately maintained in the ITAM/SAM repository.
- Support software lifecycle management activities including planning, acquisition, deployment, monitoring, and retirement.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly software license compliance reports for leadership and agency stakeholders.
- Support software request processing, renewals, upgrades, license changes, and vendor agreement updates.
- Develop and improve SAM processes, procedures, SOPs, reporting methods, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with software cost tracking, service utilization reporting, budget planning, and contract renewal analysis.
- Provide expertise for Adobe and similar software licensing consolidation, enhancement, and management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft Enterprise License Agreements.
- 11 years of Business Analyst experience.
- 11 years of experience with software asset lifecycle management.
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft licensing structures.
- 5 years of experience with software asset management, O365 licensing portal, and Microsoft Volume Licensing portal.
- 4 years of experience interpreting software licensing terms and conditions.
- 4 years of experience administering Microsoft Enterprise Contracts and subscription-based services.
- 4 years of experience with Microsoft SAM engagements and true-up processes.
- 4 years of experience in managed software environments and O365 subscription license entitlement.
- 4 years of experience managing software licenses in ServiceNow or a comparable SAM/ITAM platform.
- Strong understanding of software publisher licensing models, product use rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical, business, financial, and executive stakeholders.
