ABOUT THE ROLE: Staff Software Engineer
The Aviatrix Networking Engineering team is responsible for delivering performant, resilient, and scalable solutions to our gateway appliances. This includes infrastructure for messaging, upgrade, high availability, as well as networking and security features that contribute to the Aviatrix, end to end multi-cloud solution.
We are searching for a Staff Engineer – Software Development to join the Networking team. You will be responsible for solving new challenges in multi cloud networks and connecting cloud to the edge with security. This position offers flexibility of working remote in the US or hybrid in Santa Clara, CA.
Key Responsibilities
The [LOCATION] annual base salary range for this full-time position is $XXX,XXX-$XXX,XXX benefits 401(k) match equity and is bonus eligible. The pay range is determined by the role, work location, job-related skills, level, experience and relevant education. We are searching for a Staff Engineer – Software Development to join the Networking team. You will be responsible for solving new challenges in multi cloud networks and connecting cloud to the edge with security. Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, development and reliability of core software components with significant impact on product quality, reliability, and performance.
- Implement and test features and improvements using primarily Python and Golang.
- Write and present design proposals and documentations for moderately complex features.
- Contribute to improvements that strengthen customer security posture.
- Debug and fix issues to improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of core software components, driving systemic improvements where possible.
- Use your technical expertise to improve code quality through code and design reviews.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver features end-to-end.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and feedback.
- Represent the Networking team as a technical contact in cross-functional discussions and external technical engagements as needed.
- 6 years relevant software development experience building enterprise-grade appliances at scale
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code
- Proficiency in Golang (preferred) or Python
- Experience with Routing protocols like BGP
- Experience with Software Define Networking (SDN) and distributed systems
- Experience with overlays and tunneling technologies
- Team player who works well in collaborative situations and fast-paced environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Linux networking, kernel modules or eBPF Experience drafting and reviewing RFCs or collaborating with working groups and committees
- Security protocol experience, (e.g., IPsec, SSL, Authentication and Authorization, firewall)
- Prior working experience on one or more Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, Alibaba cloud, etc.) is a plus
