Position Purpose     

Provide development and maintenance of aviation maintenance technology (aircraft, engines, training aids, aircraft tooling, etc.) required to train the students according to policy of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance and in compliance with the FAA, State, and regulatory body requirements. 

Job Responsibilities     

  • Work with Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director to establish maintenance schedule and prioritization of training aircraft, training aids.
  • Use of aircraft manuals and maintenance manuals, to appropriately troubleshoot issues and squawks on aircraft and training aids, to include aircraft engines, tooling and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Notify Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director of any current or potential problems which warrant attention. Aircraft Assembly Technician
  • Attending in-service training as required.
  • Complete and perform all required maintenance on aircraft, training aids, and aircraft engines.
  • Fabrication of training aids, aircraft cradles, and aircraft tooling.
  • Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in maintaining equipment used by the student.
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director.
  • Teaching classes on a regularly scheduled basis, as assigned
  • Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
  • Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required documentation and reports per established procedures
  • Actively utilize proven student retention techniques approved by the school
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab
  • Notify Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director of any current or potential problems which warrant attention
  • Attend in-service training seminar, as required 
  • Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned by Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director, or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys
  • Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in maintaining equipment used by the student, and development curriculum related course materials and training aids 
  • Perform and complete other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications    

  • High School Diploma or GED and prefer associate’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations Aircraft Assembly Technician will be given for more diverse experience); or successful completion of an FAA Part 147 school.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a command of theory and practice, contemporary knowledge and continuing study in the field.
  • Experience in fabrication, welding, use of sheet metal, wood, fiberglass and other fabrication equipment.
  • Competence and use of aircraft tooling and maintenance equipment.
  • Experience in and familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, IPC, FCRs, and FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and can multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and/or overnight for business purposes.
  • Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.

Work Schedule

  • Option 1: Monday - Thursday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • Option 2: Monday - Thursday: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

The salary for this position pays $21 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
