The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm.
SUMMARY: The Environmental and Operations Support Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing activities in the hazardous materials management programs as well as hangar operations support. Provides general direction to EHS Technicians in HazMat activities, and Hangar Operations Support Technicians in maintenance activities. Conducts emergency response to spills or release of hazardous materials and waste at all facilities. Provides on-the-job training.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Environmental & Hazardous Material Management:
- Develops, revises, and implements hazardous materials management programs such as Spill Response Plans, Hazardous Waste Minimization Plans and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans.
- Submits Wastewater and Stormwater reports monthly, quarterly, and annually in accordance with State and Federal regulations
- Acts as local liaison with hazardous waste disposal vendors; schedules and oversees waste pick-ups.
- Coordinates shift priorities by effectively monitoring and responding to all notifications and requests received by various communication methods.
- Implements daily priorities and issues job assignments for EHS Technicians.
- Partners with Operations to ensure daily compliance with Environmental State and Federal regulations.
- Ensures all requests for chemical, service requirements, and spill responses are completed in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
- Assesses hazardous materials and waste spill incidents. Follows contingency plan guidelines until the incident is resolved or escalated to the supervisor.
- Inspects chemical storage building and Hazmat building to ensure housekeeping standards are met, and all hazardous waste receptacles are properly sealed and labeled per State and Federal regulations.
- Ensures that hazardous waste containers and waste manifests are correctly prepared in accordance with DOT regulations for shipment offsite.
- Conducts daily and weekly inspections of all tank and containment sites, including satellite accumulation areas at all assigned facilities. Logs findings in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Responds promptly to pump failures. Performs maintenance to correct problem and return pump to operational status.
- Maintains chemical distribution log and hazardous waste pick up log for all assigned locations.
- Researches chemical profile data sheets and prepares hazardous waste labels in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintains current standing with all certifications and training requirements.
- Identifies essential non-maintenance tasks and assigns to Hangar Operations Support Team, allowing operations to continue to work directly on the aircraft.
- Coordinates maintenance assistance duties to maximize efficiency in aircraft work.
- Directs, leads and assigns support team in response to workload requirements.
- Works closely with other departments including quality, planning and maintenance lines to coordinate workflow.
- Purchases work and safety equipment required for team members.
- Coaches and mentors team members.
- Develop and maintain standard work plans for all staff.
- One-year certificate in related field from college or technical school preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current certification in Hazardous Waste Operations, Emergency Response, Safety and Health Training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and WAC 296-62-3040, and USDOT Hazardous Material Transportation in accordance with 49 CFR 172.704.
- Valid local State driver’s license.
- Current Commercial Driver’s License (or obtain within one year of employment).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee will occasionally be required to move drums and cylinders weighing up to 500 pounds, using proper equipment.
The employee will be required to wear respirators and other personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pass respirator fit test, including half-face and full-face respirators, every year following entry into job.
Compensation
The full base pay range for this position is $36 – $53 hourly, not including bonuses or benefits. Your pay will be based on your experience, skills, and education, as well as internal equity to ensure fairness across the team. Candidates closer to the lower end of the range are typically building their expertise, while those at the higher end bring significant experience and specialized knowledge. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
