Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer
Aviation Ground Equipment Corp. is a manufacturer and military supplier. We are seeking a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer with Embedded Controls to support the design, development, test, and troubleshooting of digital/analog circuits, Aircraft Power generation systems, and power test equipment.
AGEC is an industry leader in the manufacturing and supply of ground support equipment (GSE) to global commercial and military customers and end users. AGEC operates two divisions, our OEM division designs and produces world-class GSE supporting a wide range of military aircraft platforms, on behalf of defense prime contractors and Government program offices. Our Commercial Division distributes an excellent line card of ground support equipment, parts, and service to global MRO, airline operators, Government agencies, and aviation end users.
What you will do:
- Support the life cycle of new product development from concept, through design and development, testing, and product support.
- Analog circuit design, digital circuit design, and software design and troubleshooting. This includes an interface to electromechanical systems.
- Provide existing product support and future controls technical direction.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate designs to comply with product specifications.
- Hands on testing of hardware performance with embedded software/firmware, utilizing JTAG interface, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes or similar equipment.
- Conducts validation, verification, and qualification testing. Verify designs with accurate consideration for power quality and performance, system interfaces, and physical environment.
- Conduct troubleshooting and problem solving of anomalies.
- Collaboratively work with engineering team to ensure all product performance, cost and schedule objectives are achieved.
- Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components and by soliciting observations from operators.
- Provides product support as appropriate by isolating faults and resolving design issues.
- Monitors the activities of subcontracted technical services.
- Document designs, specifications, engineering changes, and test reports.
- Perform other duties and cross-training as assigned.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering degree.
- Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in electrical engineering product design and development and power generation.
- Strong analytical and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Embedded software experience along with DSPs for control of power converters.
- Experience testing hardware performance with embedded software/firmware, utilizing JTAG interface, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes or similar equipment.
- Ability to lead a project and a team.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to plan and organize.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Take ownership and develop a sense of urgency with project and work assignments.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Potential travel 10%-15%.)
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred:
- A Master’s Degree is a plus.
- Experience with Microchip and TI family microcontrollers.
- Experience in the Aerospace industry is an advantage.
- Experience with control of AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC power converters is an advantage.
- Experience in creating schematics and layout.
- Knowledge of test set software development on PC platform.
