What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer position at Avetix Engineering?
We are looking for Medical Device Test Engineers (Level I & Level II) to join our growing team in San Diego, California. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading testing and certification laboratory supporting manufacturers in bringing innovative medical devices and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products to market safely and compliantly.
Whether you already have experience within the Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) industry or have worked directly for a medical device manufacturer, we are interested in speaking with engineers who have a strong technical foundation and experience in product safety and compliance testing.
With plans to grow our engineering team from 8 to 12 engineers, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative environment that genuinely invests in career development and technical progression.
What You'll Do
- Perform safety and compliance testing on active medical devices and IVD products in accordance with applicable international standards.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical testing on a wide range of products, with medical devices representing approximately 50% of the laboratory's workload.
- Set up, configure and operate laboratory test equipment.
- Interpret standards and test requirements to ensure products meet regulatory and certification requirements.
- Produce accurate technical reports and clearly communicate test findings to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support customers throughout the testing and certification process.
- Work collaboratively with experienced engineers while continuing to develop your technical expertise.
What We're Looking For
Test Engineer I
- Approximately 1-3 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Test Engineer II
- Approximately 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently carrying out product safety and compliance testing.
For Both Levels
- Experience performing product safety, regulatory or compliance testing.
- Experience with active medical devices, IVD products, or other electrical products requiring safety testing.
- Previous experience within a Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) laboratory is beneficial but not essential. Engineers from medical device manufacturers are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
- A proactive, hands-on engineering mindset with a desire to learn and develop.
Salary : $90,000 - $95,000
