Job Summary:
The Manager, Production is responsible for end-to-end execution of manufacturing operations across assigned areas and shifts, ensuring production plans are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently. This role acts as the primary owner of day-to-day manufacturing performance, leading supervisors and operators, resolving operational issues in real time, and ensuring consistent delivery against production targets. The Sr. Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy and serves as the critical link between shop floor execution and site leadership.
Reporting Relationships
- This position has 4 direct reports.
Essential Functions:
Production Execution & Delivery
- Own execution of daily and weekly production plans across all assigned manufacturing areas
- Ensure achievement of output, yield, and schedule adherence targets
- Proactively identify and resolve operational constraints impacting production
- Drive accountability across shifts to ensure consistent performance
Shift Leadership & Operational Control
- Provide direct leadership to production supervisors and indirectly to operators
- Ensure effective shift handovers, communication, and escalation of issues
- Maintain real-time visibility into production status and intervene as needed
- Ensure proper line clearance, equipment readiness, and batch execution discipline
Performance Management
- Monitor and drive key production KPIs (throughput, downtime, adherence, RFT)
- Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions
- Escalate systemic issues to Sr. Director with data-driven insights
- Reduce variability in execution across shifts and teams
People Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production staff
- Manage staffing levels, shift coverage, and overtime planning
- Drive accountability, engagement, and performance management
- Support hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and development planning
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
- Own accuracy and completeness of batch documentation
- Lead initial response to deviations and support investigations
- Ensure inspection readiness at the shop floor level
Safety & EHS Execution
- Enforce Environmental, Health & Safety policies and safe work practices
- Ensure proper execution of safety procedures
- Lead frontline incident response and reporting
- Drive a culture of safety ownership across teams
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate daily with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
- Ensure rapid resolution of equipment, material, or quality issues
- Support maintenance planning and execution to minimize downtime
Continuous Improvement
- Lead implementation of corrective actions from root cause investigations
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput
- Standardize best practices across shifts

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- Bachelor of Science in a technical, science or engineering field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceuticals
- Minimum 3 years of production management experience required
- Knowledge of all manufacturing equipment and processes
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and batch execution
- Strong working knowledge of cGMP and regulatory expectations
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Skilled in working with all manufacturing quality personnel
- Strong overall understanding of the generic pharmaceutical business
- Ability to identify and develop a skilled workforce, including management development
- Strong interpersonal; and communication skills

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation:
This is an exempt salaried position; the pay range is $115,000 to $132,000 per year.
In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus which aligns to both individual and company performance.
