Softtek Government Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Architect to join our federal technology services consulting practice. This is a hands-on senior technologist role that works collaboratively with other technical leaders in the organization to design, develop, and sustain database technical solutions for custom software development projects. This senior role blends Data Modeling, Database Architecture, Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) Script Programming, and Database Administration. Prefer candidates having full-stack application development and sustainment experience. You will interface with senior IT SMEs to collaboratively design large-scale IT application solutions using sound architectural approaches. You will lead through expertise and sound decision-making that considers benefits, risks, and technical dependencies. You will optimize development team techniques and practices through continuous improvement. You should have enthusiasm for driving teams to deliver high-quality software.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment enterprise database solutions
- Architect scalable RDBMS, data lake, and warehouse pattern
- Produce database objects (tables, views, constraints, indexes, etc.) using scripts and IDEs
- Program ETL data pipelines using PostgreSQL and Python
- Optimize partitioning, indexing, and job scheduling performance and reliability.
- Design, plan, and lead the development of legacy data migration
- Implement backup/restore strategies, monitor health and performance, and remediate incidents
- Enforce least-privilege access, encryption at rest/in-transit, auditing
- Enforce database and data pipeline source control (Git), branching, code reviews
- Define infrastructure-as-code patterns for database objects, policies, and platform components.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (or commensurate experience)
- CompTIA Security .
Required Experience:
- 8 years of experience leading software development projects/programs
- Hands on experience programming full stack applications with the following technology stack:
- PostgreSQL database, PgAdmin, SQL, PgSQL, PgModeler, Node, Git, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Grafana, GitHub Codespaces, GitHub Copilot
- Very high level of verbal language proficiency
- Preference given to Big 4 consulting experience in Federal government sector
- Ability to convincingly explain the rationale for technology decisions
- Full-time employees (no 1099 or Corp-to-Corp)
- US Citizenship
- Prior experience working with Federal customers is required
- Onsite at the customer offices Monday through Friday in downtown Washington, DC, near the Farragut West metro station.
Required Clearance:
- Preference given to candidates with a Top-Secret clearance (active or recently active)
- Must be able to pass background screening and re-investigation
- Must be able to work in a SCIF
