Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, IA has a full-time position (40 hours per week) in our Laboratory Department for a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technician. Responsibilities: Provides phlebotomy on adults, children, and infants by venipuncture or capillary methods and direct arterial punctures. Performs routine and special laboratory testing, recording, and test results reporting within established turnaround time. Interpret analytical findings/results to assess compliance with hospital and industry standards. Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and testing following established procedures. Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, and function checks. Assists in evaluating new tests and/or new procedures; perform quality control, proficiency testing and remedial action for unacceptable results. Overnight shifts. No weekends; rotating holidays. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. 1 year of experience required. Previous experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or AMT required within 12 months of hire. BLS a plus; certification is required as an employee. Mandatory Reporter training certificate a plus; certification is required as an employee.
