A Brief Overview
Provides care under the supervision of a physician and accordance with the quality standards. Assists in processes of various orthopedic biologic sterile procedures and operating all modalities accompanied with the process, fitting, billing and ordering of all DME within the practice, splinting and casting in accordance to the physician treatment plan of care.
What you will do
- Maintains inventory of DME equipment as well as supplies and materials for exam rooms to ensure each room is properly stocked, reordering of any supplies needed. Serves as primary lead for maintaining DME compliance for Avera Orthopedics.
- Assists Avera orthopedics leadership with various tasks such as: office supplies, ordering, clinical scheduling, developing, and organizing new clinics.
- Ensures cleanliness of patient contact items, exam rooms, and follows clinic policy of sterilization of equipment. Demonstrates clinical proficiency with good manual dexterity in order to manipulate treatment equipment.
- Greets patients and prepares patient for examination. Conducts clinical assessment, charts medical history information, administers tests and treatments and assists provider as directed.
- Answers patient questions prior to the procedure, prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures as needed, label and process aspirated specimens, document in electronic medical record system, and provide after visit patient education.
- Instructs/educates patient/family regarding diagnostic process, medications and treatment, etc. Communicates in a timely manner via phone or patient portal to answer questions or coordinate care, and documents in patients’ medical record.
- Maintains and views patient records, charts, and other pertinent information to include, but not limited to the following: prepping patient charts, ensuring all needed information such as lab, x-rays, and referral information is present before patient’s appointment, documenting any prescriptions administered and patient response.
- Reviews all lab, hospital and other reports and communicates to patient or provider as well as note in chart as necessary.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Athletic Trainer - Board of Athletic Training Certification as an Athletic Trainer required through NATABOC. Upon Hire
- Athletic Trainer - Board of Athletic Training Licensed in the state of practice. Upon Hire
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Master's
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach - National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) CSCS certification through the NSC. Upon Hire
- 1-3 years of related experience and/or training
