Be apart of something great! Position Highlights Position Summary: This position assists professional staff in providing care for the operative patient. This position requires surgical knowledge and expertise to ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are available on the surgical field and/or in the operating room where the procedure is to be performed. This position helps the sterile operative team, performs routine and specialized housekeeping activities, applies principles of infection control and medical ethics. Retrieves, cleans, and decontaminates instrumentation and equipment, issues and tracks department specific equipment/instrumentation within the hospital. Prepares, packages, and processes items in accordance with hospital policies, established practices and manufacturer’s recommendations. Performs, recommends and evaluates quality measures and improvements. This position will also be responsible for training newly assigned personnel. Patient safety and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Work Schedule: Flexible schedules to cover all shifts and weekends, as hospital needs demand. Routine on call requirements. Education/Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Previous experience in hospital sterile processing preferred. Licensure/Certification: IAHCSMM certification preferred.
