**Job Summary:**
Surgical Technicians assist surgeons during operations, maintaining aseptic techniques, verifying patient information, and preparing equipment.
**Responsibilities:**
• Assist surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Utilize infection control/universal precautions techniques.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and keep operating rooms clean.
• Update preference cards to ensure team members can perform procedures as per surgeon requests.
• Comply with regulatory requirements, policies, and standards of practice.
• Verify patient identity and operative procedure, site, surgeon, and consent.
• Monitor principles of aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy procedure.
**Requirements:**
• Work the specified hours, including varied shifts, 72hrs/2wks, on-call/weekend/holiday rotation.
• Have visual acuity adequate to perform duties and ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Possess a Technical Certificate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program and Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification upon hire.
• Preferred education: 1-3 years of surgical experience.
