Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday: occasional weekends, holidays, or call-ins; 80 hours every 2 weeks.

A Brief Overview
As a Surgical Technician Apprentice, you will perform surgical technician and sterile processing duties while studying toward certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists surgeons by handing required instruments during procedures without difficulty.
- Selects product(s) for procedures.
- Performs all suture and instrument counts without error.
- Assists in daily testing and operations of sterilizers.
- Records sterilizer testing and operations.
- Decontaminates all instruments and equipment per established policy/procedure.
- Documents cleaning process of terminal cleans and assigned rooms each month.
- Maintains turnover time within acceptable limits.
- Stores products appropriately.
- Checks for outdated supplies.
- Monitors back orders.
- Maintains a 3-week par level and informs director if ordered product does not arrive after 1 week.
- Understands the care and handling of all equipment that reaches the instrument decontamination room.
- Follows posted instructions on requirements of special equipment handling.
- Prepares instrument and supply packs for distribution.
- Ensures instrument sets are in proper working order.
- Wraps all supplies in correct type of wrapper and correct size to maintain the sterility of the instrument or tray.
- Labels the instrument or tray accurately and clearly for proper storage.
- Communicates and educates other OR staff on the proper processing of new and changing instrumentation.

The individual must be able to work the specified hours. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
High School or GED Equivalent
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
1-3 years Previous healthcare related experience
