Job Summary:
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct care and services to residents in a skilled nursing facility, meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living, performing routine duties, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance to residents with bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, toileting needs, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and/or assisting with feeding, answering call lights, and insuring a clean environment.
- Performs blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight checks, documenting concise information on appropriate forms.
- Assists residents in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure, contributing to the patient's plan of care.
- Restocks supplies and maintains a clean and safe work environment, including cleaning procedures.
- Participates in providing emotional, educational, and spiritual support for families.
- Complies with resident rights, confidentiality, and privacy, reporting allegations of abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
- Follows established policies and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plans, universal precautions, infection control, hazardous materials communication, and chemical handling.
Qualifications:
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) licensure within 120 days.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Less than one year of related experience or training preferred.
