Location: Avenue Fabricating, Inc.

Position Summary
Avenue Fabricating, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our team. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates for structural steel fabrication and related projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids while meeting strict deadlines. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to ensure complete and competitive proposals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complete, accurate, and timely project estimates and bid proposals.
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, addendums, and scope documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, and project records.
- Prepare bid recap sheets, scope letters, and supporting documentation.
- Submit bids and pricing information within established deadlines.
- Review Notices to Proceed and Letters of Intent for pricing and scope accuracy.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and assist with project handoffs.
- Provide pricing for change orders, revisions, and project bulletins.
- Assist Project Managers with billing breakdowns and schedules of values when needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and company estimating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attend training seminars and professional development opportunities as assigned.
- Promote a culture where quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are top priorities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Five (5) years of estimating experience in structural steel fabrication, construction, or a related industry preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Experience with Fabtrol MRP software or similar estimating software is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, grasp, and use hands and fingers for extended periods.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and computer screens.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Occasional visits to the production shop or project sites may be required.
Work Environment
- Primarily a climate-controlled office environment.
- Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday, approximately 10-hour shifts.
- Additional hours, including Fridays or weekends, may be required to meet bid deadlines.
