Prominent Upper East Side Dermatology Practice seeks an experienced Front Desk Medical Receptionist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have prior knowledge of dermatology (or related) practice workflows, superb communication skills, and a strong attention to detail; they will be able to work independently and provide exceptional customer service in a high-touch patient care setting.
Job Description
The Front Desk team serves as the face of the practice – they are the first and last team members that every patient interacts with. The Front Desk Medical Receptionist plays a key role in ensuring that our patients continue to trust us with their care. The Front Desk Medical Receptionist manages patient interactions in-person and over the phone, ensuring that patient questions are dealt with or routed appropriately. The Receptionist will work closely with the Patient Relations Coordinator, Practice Manager, and clinical staff to ensure a high level of patient satisfaction.
Primary responsibilities
- Greeting patients and ensuring intake and check-out protocols are followed for every appointment
- Scheduling appointments using NexTech EMR, managing requests for cancellations & changes, and optimizing provider productivity (e.g., filling all available appointments and contacting patients to move up appointments)
- Calling patients to confirm future appointments
- Answering practice telephones, addressing inquiries, and forwarding calls to other departments as appropriate, with an ability to manage multiple calls simultaneously
- Maintaining accurate demographic and insurance information for all patients; scanning physical documentation into EMR; ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Performing general clerical duties for the practice
- Running insurance eligibility claims through EMR, issuing patient bills after appointments, and processing in-practice payments for cosmetic appointments and/or medical copays
- Promoting retail products and processing payments for retail transactions
- Keeping the reception area neat and ensuring the practice is ready to receive patients in the mornings
Experience
- 3 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist, preferably in Dermatology or Aesthetic Medicine
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service mindset
- Ability to multitask
- Experience with standard office computer programs (Microsoft Outlook and Teams)
- Demonstrated proficiency with NexTech (EMR system); or experience with a different EMR and willingness to learn NexTech
- High school diploma or GED
- Good knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with cosmetic dermatology procedures is a plus
- Interest in skincare is a plus
Job Status: Non-Exempt
Job location: On-site, Monday-Friday
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
