Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage the patient intake process with professionalism and care.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and manage billing activities including medical collection procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear communication and appointment confirmations.
- Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with clinical documentation review standards and coding requirements such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes.
- Assist with office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating patient flow and managing clinic schedules to optimize daily operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or healthcare setting with strong dental terminology knowledge.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus.
- Familiarity with health insurance processes including verification, Medicare procedures, and health information management.
- Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9), CPT coding, and documentation review standards for accurate billing.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone communication and office management abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Bilingual skills are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks; familiarity with multi-line phone systems is advantageous.
- Previous dental clinic experience or dental office experience highly preferred; hospital or healthcare facility background is beneficial.
