Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
- Direct and supervise nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, to ensure quality resident care.
- Monitor resident health status and ensure timely assessments, care planning, and documentation.
- Conduct daily rounds to evaluate resident care, staff performance, and unit operations.
- Oversee and participate in resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, medication administration, and safety protocols.
- Schedule, assign, and evaluate nursing staff on the unit.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS requirements.
- Participate in audits, surveys, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in medical records and electronic health systems.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with residents and their families.
- Address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Participate in care conferences and advocate for resident rights, preferences, and individualized care plans.
- Monitor staffing levels, supplies, and equipment to support efficient operations.
- Report and follow up on incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences.
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure coordinated and comprehensive resident care.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- BSN preferred.
- Current and active RN or LPN license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric nursing.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of long-term care regulations and best practices.
