Avento Health (recruiting agency) is partnering with a healthcare organization in Kennewick, WA to hire a People Services Director / Human Resources Director.Title: People Services Director / Human Resources Director (Healthcare)Location: On-site in Kennewick, WA (must report in person)Job Type: Full-time | Level: Senior | Reports To: Market CEOTravel: Up to 20% of the timeCompensation: $104,208–$140,691 annually (equivalent to $50.10–$67.64/hour)Visa Support: No visa sponsorship supportedPosition SummaryThis senior HR leader directs the department’s activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives in a healthcare environment. The role partners with leadership to ensure effective operations, strong employee relations, compliance, and consistent service delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards aligned with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.Direct and evaluate departmental operations to achieve performance and quality objectives (including service level determination and complaint management).Plan and monitor staffing activities including hiring, orientation, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets; ensure operations comply with allocated funding.Coordinate and direct internal and external audits.Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth and team development.Maintain focus on the department’s role across the continuum of care; collaborate with internal and external partners as needed.Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManage the work of others (planning, assigning, scheduling, reviewing work) and ensure quality standards are met.Responsible for hiring, termination, training and development, performance reviews, and corrective action for staff.Additional InformationServes both internal teams and external customers/clients/vendors and may access confidential information.Understands healthcare regulatory and compliance expectations (e.g., HIPAA).Skilled in applying policies and procedures consistently.Knowledge of business office standards and recommended practices.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBusiness mathematical skills (rates, ratios, percentages; interpret graphs).Moderate computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations).Strong communication skills; able to present and resolve sensitive situations with professionalism.Ability to analyze and interpret varied, complex business problems.Independent judgment; sets goals/priorities and makes recommendations that impact operations.Project planning/organization; manages multiple priorities and delegates effectively.QualificationsMaster’s degree in Human Resources or related field (required).Healthcare human resources experience.Experience in labor relations, including collective bargaining agreement negotiations (preferred but strongly desired).BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insuranceRetirementPaid time offOther standard employee benefits/programs (details confirmed during interview)Keywords: Human Resources Director, People Services Director, Healthcare HR, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Collective Bargaining, HR Operations, Compliance, HIPAA, Staffing, Leadership, HR DirectorEEO StatementAvento Health is an equal opportunity recruiting partner.
