Duties
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, vendors, and internal teams via phone calls, internal messaging platforms, and email to relay instructions, updates, and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, analyze routes, and adjust plans as needed for efficiency.
- Manage freight shipments by verifying shipping details, entering data into logistics systems like Oracle Transportation Management, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, delivery statuses, and customer interactions through data entry and documentation practices.
- Collaborate with supply chain partners to coordinate shipping & receiving schedules, freight pickups, and deliveries while adhering to safety standards.
- Handle phone etiquette professionally while managing high call volumes related to transportation planning, customer inquiries, or emergency situations.
Experience
- Proven experience in transportation planning or road transportation operations within a logistics or supply chain environment.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar vehicle dispatch software.
- Strong knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations governing freight transport and vehicle safety standards.
- Experience working with fleet management tools, GPS tracking systems, GIS applications, and logistics software like Oracle TMS.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Demonstrated communication skills for effective internal communication with team members and external customer service interactions.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word.
