The Opportunity

Avantor is looking for a Product Manager to be responsible for the attainment of overall financial, growth, operational, and related goals for BioPharma Production (BPP) and Production Chemicals portfolios.

This role will be a full-time hybrid position based out of our Radnor, PA office.

  • Preferred location in Radnor, PA or in the vicinity (i.e. Phillipsburg, NJ; Bridgewater, NJ, Allentown, PA).

How You Will Thrive And Create An Impact

  • Ensure achievement of defined strategic objectives for assigned Chemicals product lines and/or suppliers, including, but not limited to: revenue, profit, and margin expansion targets, as well as product line extension, operational, and organizational goals.
  • Ensure that products are differentiated from competitors in the marketplace.
  • Thoroughly understand target customer needs, and initiate marketing efforts to drive profitable growth through the appropriate elements of the Commercial organization.
  • Effectively collaborate with the BPP Proprietary Chemical Product Management teams to ensure that identified Chemicals product lines are integrated into each Segment’s growth strategies.
  • Attend major industry trade shows to learn about recent applicable scientific product developments. Continuously monitor and analyze key customer, competitor, and technical trends. Develop and provide recommendations to management.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier partner relationships to ensure that our organization becomes the preferred channel to market for chemicals products, while preserving market clarity for our proprietary chemicals.
  • Implement supplier consolidation strategies to include: changeover planning, discontinuance, and related communications internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing Team as needed in securing most favorable Terms and Conditions with identified suppliers and monitoring their ongoing contract compliance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education:
  • Preferred undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Biology; MBA a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Prior applicable Portfolio/Product/Marketing Management experience in a global, matrix organization.
  • Additional Project Management and/or Purchasing/Sourcing experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated history of meeting deadlines and achieving results while maintaining strong attention to details in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong business systems proficiency – SAP, QV, C4C CRM, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collaborative interpersonal skills.
  • Superior analytical and time management skills.
  • Proactive problem solver.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing and appropriately acting upon financial, operational, quality, and marketing metrics and trends.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization, including associates based in different countries and from different cultures.
  • Practical, first-hand knowledge of Production Chemicals market space.

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
