The Jr. Accountant facilitates all aspects of accounting for apartment communities by completion of reconciliations of general ledger and bank accounts, preparation of monthly financial statements, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and schedules for property tax, insurance, and fixed assets. This role will ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The Jr. Accountant facilitates all aspects of accounting for apartment communities by completion of reconciliations of general ledger and bank accounts, preparation of monthly financial statements, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and schedules for property tax, insurance, and fixed assets. This role will ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
What You’ll Do…
- Review property income statements monthly and work with the operations team to ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, including any reclasses and accruals identified by the Operations team.
- Maintain the general ledger and support documentation for each property assigned, including monthly close
- Prepare and circulate financial statements every month.
- Maintain depreciation, amortization, prepaid, accrual, and other necessary balance sheet schedules for properties.
- Reconcile all bank accounts for assigned properties and research and resolve any outstanding items.
- Review fixed asset purchases and properly classify them.
- Assist with closing the books for disposed assets.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed…
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 1 years of accounting experience required.
- 1 years of experience in Yardi or other property management software preferred.
- Detail-orientated, self-motivated, and willing to take the initiative to get things done.
- Demonstrates commitment to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Committed to following up with internal and external customers.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, team player.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Pass criminal background screening prior to employment.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and up-to-date vehicle insurance OR reliable transportation is required.
