You’ll also engage with investment banks and advisors to stay ahead of M&A trends and identify high-potential opportunities. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following activities:

Responsibilities
You’ll collaborate across AVANGRID and Iberdrola’s global ecosystem – including Finance, Treasury, Legal, Tax, Regulatory, and business line leadership. You’ll also engage with investment banks and advisors to stay ahead of M&A trends and identify high-potential opportunities. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following activities:
- Opportunity Shaping. Analyze market trends across electric and gas utilities, renewables, and clean technologies. Collaborate with U.S. and global teams to craft investment theses and identify strategic growth areas for Avangrid and Iberdrola.
- Deal Origination & Pipeline Development. Source and evaluate acquisition and partnership opportunities through direct outreach and advisor-led processes. Identify and prepare divestiture opportunities in close coordination with business units.
- Valuation & Due Diligence Leadership. Lead financial modeling and due diligence efforts – DCF, precedent transactions, comps, accretion/dilution, and credit impact – to assess the value and viability of potential deals.
- Deal Structuring & Execution. Partner with Legal and cross-functional teams to shape deal terms, negotiate agreements, and manage all documentation through signing and closing.
- Executive Engagement & Approvals. Develop compelling investment memos and presentations to secure executive and board-level approvals for transactions.
- Post-Deal Integration. Oversee integration activities as appropriate, ensuring alignment with Avangrid’s operational and strategic goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have Substantial Core Expertise In The Industry, a Strong Industry Network, And Successful Experience In Complex Transactions, Including
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, with master’s degree in an energy related field or MBA preferred.
- 5 years of professional experience, preferably with experience in the energy sector, with highly analytical work in corporate development, investment banking, management consulting or other relevant career areas.
- A strategic mindset with a passion for energy innovation
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, detail-oriented and thorough
- Very strong Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel skills
