Avancis are currently hiring for a Sr Test Technician (Test & Compliance – VFD) position with one of our long-standing enterprise clients, based in New Berlin, WI (Onsite).

Overview
Under general guidance from Test Management and Senior Test Technicians, the Engineering Technician will perform laboratory testing and support product development to ensure compliance with design verification requirements, test specifications, and industry standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining test lab operations, safety, and quality while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design and development activities including component evaluation, prototype assembly, and validation testing
- Execute product and prototype testing per defined standards and specifications; analyze results for compliance
- Perform safety and EMC compliance testing (UL, CSA, IEC) and prepare certification reports
- Build and maintain test setups, fixtures, and lab equipment (mechanical electrical wiring)
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic circuits using schematics
- Perform precision soldering (SMT components: 1206, 0805, 0603, 0402)
- Operate lab instruments such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power meters, and LabVIEW systems
- Document test results, maintain reports, and ensure data accuracy
- Support ISO/IEC 17025 audits and lab accreditation activities (UL, SGS)
- Travel to external test labs (domestic/international) as needed
- Follow all safety and regulatory compliance standards
Must-Have Skills (Top Priority)
- Hands-on experience with UL, CSA, IEC compliance testing
- Strong understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Experience using laboratory test equipment and interpreting results
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering 5 years’ experience
OR - Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field) 2 years’ experience
