Role Summary

Reporting to the Director of Global Compliance, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of license agreement compliance and royalty inspection activities related to Avanci’s licensing programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting global licensee compliance reviews and third-party royalty inspections, licensee research and analysis, and monitoring and resolution of licensee compliance matters.

General

  • Continuously improve skills and competencies related to compliance, royalty inspections, and license agreement monitoring in order to effectively support the execution of Avanci’s compliance program.
  • Produce work products of the highest professional standards.
  • Demonstrate professional courtesy and respectful conduct that promotes and enhances Avanci’s reputation within the licensing and technology ecosystem.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve issues and support company objectives.
  • Provide necessary assistance to other departments so that Avanci’s operational and compliance goals are achieved.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with Avanci’s internal policies, including compliance procedures, financial controls, information security, audit processes, and applicable internal systems.
  • Support the development of trusted relationships with licensees through professional communication and coordination related to compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with other internal functions (including Licensing, Royalty Services, Legal, and Finance) to support compliance activities and maintain Avanci’s high standards of operational integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of Avanci’s global royalty inspection and licensee compliance monitoring program, including licensee research, compliance analysis, and audit coordination.
  • Review compliance-related findings, reports, and correspondence to ensure alignment with established policies, procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare analyses and recommendations to the Director of Global Compliance regarding licensee compliance actions, including the management of the external audit pipeline and resolution of potential contract compliance issues.
  • Assist in identifying, engaging, and coordinating with external audit and consulting firms supporting Avanci’s royalty inspection program.
  • Support management of external royalty inspections to ensure timely and efficient completion. Responsibilities may include:
    • Preparing and coordinating royalty inspection notification letters
    • Coordinating with external audit firms and consultants
    • Assisting in preparation of training materials and audit guidance
    • Supporting identification and communication of audit risk areas
    • Assisting in the review and validation of audit findings
    • Supporting settlement discussions related to audit findings when appropriate
    • Monitoring project timelines and assisting with audit cost management
  • Assist in resolving licensee compliance matters by coordinating internal resources and external consultants, including research and analysis related to licensee reporting and product implementation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual royalty inspection plan to meet Avanci’s compliance program objectives.
  • Maintain and update compliance tracking systems and internal databases related to licensee compliance activities.
  • Provide market intelligence, product research, and licensee analysis to support compliance and licensing teams.
  • Assist with preparation of internal management reports, dashboards, and presentations related to compliance and royalty inspection activities.
  • Participate in special projects and other compliance initiatives as required.
  • Attend industry meetings or conferences as required. Travel may be required domestically and internationally (up to approximately 30–40%).

Domestic and international Avanci licensees, external audit and consulting firms, and internal Avanci personnel including Licensing, Legal, Royalty Services, Finance, and Compliance teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Between 8 to 12 years of relevant professional experience in audit, compliance, royalty verification, financial analysis, or licensing program administration.
  • Experience working with third-party audit firms, financial analysis, or compliance review processes is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with financial data review, royalty reporting, and compliance monitoring.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft business applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience leading and participating in cross-functional projects related to audit and compliance activities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Professional proficiency or native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) required.
  • Experience working with international companies, particularly Chinese OEMs or technology companies, is highly desirable.
