The Role
AvalonBay is building a next-generation Data Optimization Platform to transform how we leverage data, predictive analytics, and dynamic pricing across our rental housing portfolio. This first-of-its-kind leadership role will shape the strategy, technology, and execution of data capabilities that drive measurable business impact.
We’re looking for a leader who can bring best practices from dynamic pricing and yield management—or from pricing and data analytics backgrounds—to innovate how we optimize and maximize performance.
What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Define and lead the strategy for AvalonBay’s Pricing Platform, setting the vision, success metrics, and innovation roadmap
Serve as the central product leader across data science, engineering, marketing, leasing, and pricing teams
Benchmark against industry leaders to bring state-of-the-art pricing and yield practices into rental housing
Platform Delivery & Innovation
Oversee the design, development, and launch of a scalable, data-driven pricing platform with integrated predictive analytics
Ensure seamless data ingestion, modeling pipelines, and real-time pricing optimization aligned with market signals
Drive adoption of platform capabilities across business functions
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead a team responsible for pricing strategy, inventory management, data integrations, and platform capabilities
Partner with Data Science to operationalize machine learning and predictive analytics into pricing workflows
Collaborate across Marketing, Leasing, and Resident Experience to ensure pricing decisions are consistent and data-driven
What Success Looks Like
Year One: Establish clear KPIs, launch foundational platform capabilities, and secure cross-functional adoption
Longer Term: Deliver measurable gains in pricing accuracy, occupancy optimization, and operational efficiency
What We’re Looking For
10 years in product management, pricing optimization, yield management, or data-driven strategy with leadership experience
Proven track record building platforms integrating pricing, forecasting, and business operations at scale
Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence across functions
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, Data Science, or technical advanced degree preferred
