Position Summary
The Director of Rehabilitation provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for the in‑house therapy department, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech‑Language Pathology services. This role ensures regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, staff engagement, and alignment with facility goals—without the pressures of third‑party contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the in‑house rehabilitation department
- Oversee therapy service delivery to ensure high clinical quality and resident satisfaction
- Maintain compliance with CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, Managed Care, state, and facility regulations
- Collaborate closely with nursing, administration, and the interdisciplinary team
- Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity expectations, and performance evaluations
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely therapy documentation and billing
- Participate in care plan meetings, IDT meetings, QAPI initiatives, and survey preparedness
- Develop clinical programs and protocols to enhance outcomes and efficiency
- Mentor therapy staff and support ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Current state of Missouri license as a PT, OT, SLP, PTA or OTA
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a long‑term care or skilled nursing environment
- Previous Director of Rehabilitation experience
- Strong knowledge of PDPM, Medicare Part A & B, Managed Care and long‑term care regulations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Commitment to team‑based, resident‑focused care
