Duties
- Perform specimen collection through venipuncture (blood sampling) and other techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens following strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination
- Assist with routine laboratory procedures, including sample labeling, storage, and documentation
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to support clinical assessments
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, test results, and specimen tracking using medical terminology and laboratory protocols
- Support patient care activities by providing compassionate service during specimen collection and related tasks
- Follow established laboratory procedures and techniques to uphold quality standards and safety regulations
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely processing of specimens for diagnostic testing
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Assist with inventory management of supplies and reagents necessary for laboratory operations
Experience
- Prior experience working in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and safety protocols
- Hands-on experience with specimen collection methods such as venipuncture (blood draws) and capillary sampling
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology relevant to blood sampling and patient assessment
- Experience performing vital signs measurement and supporting patient care activities in a healthcare environment
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique to prevent contamination during sample handling
- Previous hospital experience or exposure to clinical laboratories will be considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members
