Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists in expediting prescription processing and delivering excellent customer service. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred but not required — we're happy to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Expedite prescription processing by performing all duties necessary and allowable by policy or law
- Receive new and refill prescriptions from customers for filling
- Verify patient name and address (if applicable), as well as legibility of the prescriber's name
- Retrieve prescriptions requested for refill from prescription files
- Prepare labels for new and refill prescriptions
- Assist customers picking up prescriptions
- Process cash register transactions for new and refilled prescriptions
- Provide necessary communications to customers, including instructions, side effects, and medication descriptions
- Arrange customer consultations with the Pharmacist upon request
- Obtain customer signatures for all prescriptions received
- Answer incoming calls and direct them to the Pharmacist when appropriate (e.g., new prescriptions, medication questions, judgmental decisions)
- Complete and process third-party insurance documents
- Fill prescriptions and maintain prescription records
- File patient profiles
- Stock prescription vials and bins
- Process incoming orders, verifying items ordered match items shipped and invoiced
- Check items for appropriate shelf life remaining before expiration
- Affix price stickers to ordered items and stock shelves or refrigerator as required
- Remove outdated stock as directed by the Pharmacist
- Maintain cleanliness of pharmacy shelves, work areas, and premises
Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred, but not required
- Maryland Pharmacy Technician registration Preferred OR PTCB certified
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and computer skills
