Job Description
The Receiving Inspector II performs inspection of purchased parts, materials, components and equipment as materials are received from vendors or subcontractors.
Position Responsibilities
- Conducts detailed dimensional and visual inspections on critical parts, assemblies, and raw material, including first piece, in-process, incoming, and final. Inspection involves using tools such as; calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparator, and more
- Works from drawings, sketches and specifications. Adapts inspection measuring devices and procedures where necessary
- Documents inspection findings and produces the necessary documentation/reports, establishing acceptance or rejection
- Determines or assists in determining methods, sequences and procedures necessary for inspection
- Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Vocational school or Technical training is preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of mechanical inspection experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements, maintenance, and implementation of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 guidelines required
- Experienced using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and optical comparator
- This position requires traveling to the supplier sites within 100 miles
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean DMV record
- Demonstrated familiarity with source inspections and/or audits is desired
- Demonstrates intermediate to advanced drawing interpretation skills
- Demonstrates understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite needed to document findings and produce inspection reports
- Is highly motivated, committed to high quality standards, and be able to function with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates competency in reading, comprehending, and ensuring compliance to internal standards, drawings, and customer requirements
- Exhibits strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
- Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
- Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
- Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company
