AV Pros NY is a leading provider of integrated audiovisual solutions for commercial, educational, and corporate environments. We specialize in the deployment of cutting-edge technology and highly integrated AV systems, and we are seeking a detail-oriented AV Engineer Assistant to support our design and engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in AV/IT environments, strong organizational and documentation skills, and the ability to assist with system design, drawings, submittals, and project coordination while working closely with senior AV engineers.
Responsibilities:
Assisting with System Design
- Supporting the AV design team in developing system designs and blueprints for various AV setups.
- Assisting in the creation of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings, schematics, and layouts of AV systems.
- Helping create and organize design documentation, including equipment lists, technical specifications, and project timelines.
Researching and Recommending Equipment
- Researching new AV equipment, technologies, and solutions that could be integrated into designs.
- Assisting in selecting appropriate equipment (e.g., displays, speakers, microphones, video conferencing gear) based on the project's needs and budget.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in AV technology to make recommendations for future designs.
Collaborating with Clients and Stakeholders
- Assisting in gathering requirements from clients or stakeholders to understand their AV needs.
- Helping to communicate design concepts and technical specifications to clients in a clear and understandable way.
- Providing feedback and suggestions to enhance the overall design based on client input or project needs.
Documentation and Reporting
- Assisting in preparing project documentation, including technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Maintaining accurate records of all design work, changes, and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Creating reports for internal teams or clients regarding design progress, timelines, and any challenges encountered.
- Work with vendors to maintain up to date pricing lists.
Bidding Support
- Help respond to Requests for Proposals (RFP’s).
- Compose RFI (request for information) and follow through for timely answers.
- Translate client requirements to formulate RFP (request for pricing) for various vendors.
Additional Support
· Job functions include entry-level responsibilities within the engineering/AV department.
· Support Engineering/Design department in any level-entry tasks needed.
- Support CEO in project development including updating scope of work, bill of materials, project inventory and procurement.
- Cooperate in the creation of simple proposals.
Skills We are looking for:
- Knowledgeable of control systems (Crestron, QSC, Extron, AMX) and DSP platforms (Biamp, QSC)
- Knowledge of the use of Auto CAD program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Able to work with others, take pride in their own work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking, problem and solving skills.
- Willingness to learn AV, IT, Security and Networking systems.
Certifications we want to see:
- CTS and CTS-D certifications are a plus but not required with the right experience.
- Any other industry related certs or training are also a plus. (Ex: Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure etc.)
Requirements:
- Working from office place located in Hicksville NY
- Hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday-Friday
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Compensation
· Between $25 to $30 depending on experience and valid certificates.
