ACES is seeking an energetic, experienced, and customer-focused leader to join our team as the Assistant Director of Dining Services Operations. The Assistant Director of Dining Services Operations plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall success of ACES Dining Services. Working closely with the Director of Dining Services, this position helps oversee daily operations across multiple dining service areas including retail dining, residential dining, catering, convenience operations, and other dining-related services. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, effective problem-solver, and collaborative leader who is committed to operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and team development.
What You’ll Do
- Help lead and support the daily operations of ACES Dining Services to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused service across all dining locations
- Assist in developing departmental goals, operational strategies, and service initiatives alongside the Director of Dining Services
- Ensure compliance with all budgetary guidelines, sanitation standards, safety regulations, and operational requirements
- Support unit managers with inventory management, payroll, cash handling, transmittals, operating guides, and other operational documentation
- Assist with menu development, product offerings, and pricing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and operational performance
- Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, safety, and equipment maintenance throughout all dining operations
- Help develop and implement ongoing training programs for management staff, hourly employees, student employees, and student managers in partnership with Human Resources and Dining Services leadership
- Review staffing plans and employee schedules while supporting effective labor management practices
- Provide operational support during peak business periods, special events, staffing shortages, and other high-demand situations
- Collaborate with managers and staff to identify opportunities for operational improvement and enhanced customer experience
- Advise the Director of Dining Services on operational performance, staffing, customer service, and departmental needs
- Assist with additional dining services initiatives and projects as needed

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, culinary arts, business, food service management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent supervisory experience in food service or dining operations
- Demonstrated leadership experience in hospitality, dining, or food service environments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service within a diverse community
- Experience with scheduling, staff supervision, operational oversight, and team development preferred
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and accurately complete operational documentation
- Ability to operate and use equipment related to dining operations
- Ability to freely access all dining and service areas
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to work varied hours and days based on operational needs
- Valid driver’s license required
