What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Engineering position at Autonomous Production?
Job Description
At Autonomous Production, we combine agentic robotics with a new "factory OS" that allows factories to operate like data centers, with software gross margins.
Join us as we build a future where carbon emissions are 60% lower and local economies have access to affordable robotics and AI that materially improve lives across the socioeconomic spectrum. These are the benefits our initial customers are already experiencing.
Our venture-backed company is growing rapidly, help us continue building a version of the future where AI is used to generate outsized value while also creating a more sustainable, equitable, abundant world.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on, operator who will completely bridge the gap between physical/technical infrastructure security and defense regulatory frameworks. You'll design, deploy, and enforce our secure defense-customer architecture from the ground up, covering ITAR/EAR data environments, our CMMC cybersecurity roadmap, and NIST SP 800-171 protocols.
This is an active engineering role, not a legal position. You will actively build functional technical controls, secure network infrastructure, and implement the day-to-day physical and digital systems that protect our technical data and ensure our production loops survive rigorous defense audits with ease. You are the operator and owner of a critically important area.
What You'll Do
- Build our baseline technical, digital, and physical security control strategy from scratch within your first 30 days.
- Design and deploy secure internal data boundaries, file access controls, and network tracking infrastructure to safeguard critical automated engineering specs.
- Author our comprehensive CMMC Level 2 roadmap and oversee structural technical milestones.
- Establish and execute our standardized data control protocols, technical export compliance loops, and secure supply chain tracking infrastructure.
Required:
- US citizen
- Able to work in-person, full-time, in Sausalito, CA
- Regulatory Navigation: Proven history working at an organization navigating toward advanced federal and defense regulations (such as ITAR, EAR, NIST SP 800-171, or CMMC frameworks).
Preferred:
- Familiarity with information security systems (identity management, network segmenting, logging/SIEM tools) tailored to organizations with advanced compliance requirements.
- Prior compliance engineering experience spanning defining the strategy, implementing and operating controls.
- Familiarity with NDAA supply chain security standards and verification methods.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $100,000 – $140,000
- Equity: Early-stage equity targeting the 90th percentile of pre-seed peer compensation.
