Special procedures: Candidate must be able to work 5x days a week with the ability to independently assist is ECMO cannulation in adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Candidate must have minimum 5 years experience in Perfusion and be comfortable operating in fast pace emergent cardiac cases. **** ECMO Transport is a MUST
Special Equipment: MUST HAVE SPECTRUM PUMP EXPERIENCE AS FACILITY JUST TRANSFERRED OVER TO THESE PUMPS.
Experience also requested in Terumo system 1, Quest MPS 2/3 Cardioplegia, ISTAT, Centrimag, Impella 5.5, Bellmont Hyperthermia Kit, CardioHelp, Angiovac, CardioQuip HC.
Certificates required: ACLS, BLS, Clinical Perfusionist (ABCP)
Education: Bachelors Degree in related field of study
Work Setting Experience Required: CVOR, General OR, Pedi CVOR, Pedi General OR, and Trauma Level 1
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Perfusionist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will operate and monitor sophisticated extracorporeal circulation equipment during cardiac surgeries and other medical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise in physiology, sterile techniques, and patient care will contribute to life-saving interventions in a fast-paced hospital environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with surgical teams, providing critical support during complex procedures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and precision.
Duties
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot heart-lung machines (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation devices) during surgical procedures
- Monitor vital signs, blood flow, and oxygenation levels continuously to ensure patient stability throughout operations
- Collect and analyze physiological data to make real-time adjustments for optimal perfusion
- Manage inventory of perfusion supplies and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and maintenance
- Assist with vascular access procedures such as IV insertion, venipuncture, and catheterization when needed
- Maintain strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all procedures
- Document all perioperative activities accurately in patient records for compliance and quality assurance
Requirements
- Certification as a Perfusionist from an accredited program or relevant licensing body
- Proven experience in hospital settings, particularly in cardiac or acute care units
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to cardiovascular systems
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis skills, and medical device operation
- Ability to perform IV infusion, medication administration, injection techniques, and venipuncture with precision
- Familiarity with sterile processing procedures and infection control standards
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including pediatrics
- Strong inventory management skills to oversee DME (Durable Medical Equipment) supplies and control stock levels
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a high-pressure environment
