Job Description:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the integrity of the company’s accounting processes. This role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. The Bookkeeper will assist the Accounting Department by preparing reports, supporting month-end and year-end close, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Reports to the Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers in accordance with company practices.
- Administer accounts receivable: prepare and send invoices, apply customer payments, monitor aging, and follow up on outstanding balances as directed.
- Administer accounts payable: process vendor invoices, verify accuracy and coding, prepare payments, and reconcile transactions while resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other key accounts monthly.
- Maintain and update customer and vendor records, ensuring accurate contact and billing information.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting (e.g., aging reports, cash flow summaries).
- Support the accounting team with inquiries, resolve billing or payment discrepancies, and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP standards.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, document retrieval, and record maintenance, along with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required. Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and/or billing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (NetSuite experience is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential and accurate records.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to professionally interact with customers and other employees.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
