Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality, process reliability, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing of automatic pool cover systems. This role partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Service to develop, implement, and maintain quality standards that ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for improving processes, reducing defects, and supporting a culture of quality.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and procedures for manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory or industry standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Manufacturing Quality Support

  • Work directly with production teams to identify quality issues, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics (scrap, rework, yield, defect rates).
  • Perform process audits and product inspections throughout fabrication, assembly, and final testing.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and statistical methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and enhance product reliability.
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives within manufacturing operations.

Supplier & Incoming Quality

  • Familiar with VRMA processes.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve quality issues with incoming materials and components.
  • Review supplier quality performance and support corrective actions (CARs and PARs) as needed.
  • Assist with supplier audits and qualification.

Engineering & Product Support

  • Partner with Engineering on new product introductions, design changes, and process validation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined.
  • Support testing, validation, and documentation for product changes.

Documentation & Training

  • Maintain quality documentation including control plans, inspection instructions, and quality records.
  • Assist in training production employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in mechanical assemblies, fabrication, or electromechanical products.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP (NetSuite) systems and quality data analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including occasional time on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs as needed.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers, meetings and job sites may be required.

Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
