Full job description
This position is responsible for taking CNC machining jobs through production while ensuring parts are produced efficiently and to print requirements.
The CNC Operator will be expected to independently operate CNC equipment, including loading parts and fixturing, making necessary program adjustments, and verifying the first and subsequent parts meet required specifications. The operator will also monitor machine performance, troubleshoot machining problems, and make appropriate adjustments to maintain consistent part quality and production efficiency.
Successful candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to recognize and resolve problems without constant supervision. A strong commitment to quality and productivity is essential, along with the ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and established machining processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines according to work instructions, blueprints, setup sheets, and production requirements.
- Load and unload raw material and finished components safely and efficiently.
- Install and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, collets, and other work-holding devices.
- Set machine offsets, tool lengths and work coordinates
- Load, verify, and make appropriate adjustments to CNC programs as required.
- Make minor program edits and adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, GD&T, setup sheets, and other technical documents.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Identify tooling wear, machine issues, dimensional problems, and other production concerns and make appropriate corrections.
- Monitor machines during operation and adjust as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
- Troubleshoot machining problems
- Complete required production, quality, inspection, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Follow quality procedures and notify supervision of nonconforming material or production concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Previous CNC machining experience is required.
· Experience with Haas CNC controls is preferred.
· Ability to read and understand CNC programs.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
· Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and the ability to accurately verify part dimensions.
· Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
· Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
· Basic mathematical skills, including working with decimals, fractions, and measurements.
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 36.0 per week
