What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Specialist position at Automated Health Systems?
The IT Specialist will provide ongoing IT support and coordination for all required systems, collaborate with DHS regarding the specific systems configurations, and manage and direct the work for the IT Team to ensure all work is performed to the specifications of DHS. The IT Specialist will manage the technical infrastructure and connectivity to DHS systems and other designated systems as appropriate. The IT Specialist reports to the Project Manager and the Corporate IT Infrastructure Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops and implements effective information systems policies, procedures, goals and objectives and uses technology and processes to facilitate information flow to assure a high level of service to the end-user.
· Serves as a liaison between AHS, DHS, and other State contractors regarding data transmission, interface, and exchange issues.
· Interfaces with DHS IT staff to coordinate and confer on matters related to data transmission interfaces; creates and transmits data files to DHS in a compatible format and ensuring appropriate safeguards.
· Works closely with Corporate IT staff to ensure proper installation and operation of all system software (i.e., HealthTrack, etc.), telecommunication lines, and database packages.
· Interfaces with the Corporate IT staff on assignment, progress and follow-up of problems.
· Provides continued IT enhancement, development, and maintenance.
· Keeps Project Manager informed of all IT performance and issues that may impact Project compliance.
· Provides monthly management reports on status of Project IT, noting problems and resolutions;
· Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.

COMMUNICATION WITH OTHERS:
Internal - Frequent contact with the Project Management staff. Regular contact with AHS Corporate IT staff.
External – Routine contact with DHS and other relevant contractors.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Excellent working conditions in an office environment. Travel required.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Knowledge – Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and/or minimum three years’ management experience in computer science or related field. A thorough understanding of managed care processes is helpful. A strong knowledge of programming and networking technologies as used in the Project is a plus.
Skills/Abilities – Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills required. Ability to resolve complex technical problems through analysis of hardware and software technology and requirements to determine optimum system configuration. Ability to examine complex information and clearly convey concepts. Ability to interact effectively with others.
Experience – Minimum of three years’ management experience providing oversight to all aspects of an organization’s information system. Minimum three years’ experience with creating data files and securely sending and receiving files. Minimum three years’ experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining computer software, program, and databases.
Physical Requirements – Light work- some lifting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and light lifting are required.
