The Role
We're looking for a skilled, dependable, and safety-minded Commercial Overhead Door Technician. You'll take ownership of complex service and installation projects across a wide range of overhead and dock door equipment - working in demanding environments and representing Automated Door Ways with professionalism and pride. What You'll Do
Installation & Service
- Service, install, and maintain overhead doors, roll-up doors, high-speed doors, rolling steel doors, bi-fold doors, and commercial dock equipment
- Lead installation projects from start to finish, including in challenging or elevated environments
- Assemble, adjust, repair, and replace mechanical components and door parts
- Perform welding, fabrication, wiring, circuit testing, and control panel programming as required
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specs, OSHA/ANSI standards, and local codes
Diagnostics & Technical Work
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues across all equipment types
- Conduct on-site assessments and provide accurate repair plans and recommendations
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
- Order replacement springs, sections, slats, and other parts as needed
What You Bring
Experience:
- 3 years of hands-on commercial overhead door and roll-up door service and installation
- Proficiency with overhead doors, roll-up doors, high-speed doors, rolling steels, bi-folds, and dock equipment
Technical Skills:
- High mechanical aptitude with dock and door systems
- Welding skills — MIG, stick, or equivalent field welding experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
Physical & Safety:
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs unassisted and work in physically demanding environments
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to quality workmanship
Education & Licensing:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record — REQUIRED
- Ability to travel and work independently
- Authorized to work in the United States
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
