The Mechanical Engineer will support cross-functional engineering projects from concept through delivery, ensuring technical compliance, cost control, and on-time performance. This individual will bridge mechanical design, manufacturing, and customer requirements—combining strong project management expertise with hands-on mechanical aptitude to support complex aerospace assemblies.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer will support cross-functional engineering projects from concept through delivery, ensuring technical compliance, cost control, and on-time performance. This individual will bridge mechanical design, manufacturing, and customer requirements—combining strong project management expertise with hands-on mechanical aptitude to support complex aerospace assemblies.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist and lead technical programs, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain compliance.
- Interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to design reviews and inspection planning to support manufacturing, inspection, and assembly stages.
- Support complex assembly activities, including bearing and bushing installation, riveting and manual machining operations, application of sealant, assembly sequencing and precision alignment practices.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM data) to support mechanical assembly validation.
- Support manufacturing readiness reviews, root cause analyses, and process improvement initiatives.
- Develop, track, and maintain project documentation—including schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and customer communications.
- Engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical and contractual alignment.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Support or contribute to Catia model development and drawing revisions as needed.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using precision measurement equipment (required).
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills needed to interact with external customers as well as with all levels within the company.
- Must demonstrate excellent writing skills with ability to prepare/review and/or approve technical documentation.
- Thorough knowledge and experience surrounding mechanical assembly and testing.
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical assemblies and complex engineered systems.
- Competent in the utilization of hand tools, sheet metal assembly, and manual machining.
- Experience evaluating mechanical tolerance stack-ups and systems-of-fit.
- Experience with Catia or comparable CAD platforms (preferred).
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with current GD&T principles contained in ASME Y14.5-2018
- 3-5 years experience in a mechanical role is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 rev D a plus.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering discipline
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus.
- Proven problem-solving experience.
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-pace and rapidly evolving environment.
