Summary of Position
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for organizing and scheduling staff and directing the day-to-day operations of all rail, plant, and yard functions at the Flint, MI facility. This position pays $52,000/yr with a work schedule of Mon-Fri 3:30 PM- 12:00 AM (weekends as needed). This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of the receipt and scanning of vehicles into inventory systems, and storage/logistics of vehicles through efficient productivity of the work crews. This position coordinates the activities of all yard, rail, and plant crews under the direction of the Terminal Manager to ensure a well-coordinated, productive operation.
Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks
- Responsible for the daily scheduling of personnel in order to load, receive, store and move vehicles in a productive, cost efficient manner.
- Direct the facility's day-to-day activities
- Oversee vehicle movement
- Oversee receipt and scanning of vehicles into inventory system
- Assign personnel to job locations
- Train new associates, staff personnel, and temporary workers
- Ensure personnel have the support, tools and supplies needed for production
- Conduct audits and make suggestions for corrective actions as needed
- Participate in the professional development of themselves and others at the facility
- Make appropriate changes in activities if needed
- Ensure all AWC policies and procedures are followed
- Daily communication with leads, other staff, and office personnel to determine staffing, supply and operational needs, and ensures these needs are met
- Ensures new personnel receive the appropriate training
- Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in the area of counseling, warnings, and other corrective action to ensure that a productive labor climate exists
- Document performance issues and coordinate all corrective action with Terminal Manager
- Responsible for safety programs in order to provide a safe, clean workplace for all personnel and within the regulations of local, state, and OSHA standards
- Report accidents and injuries on appropriate forms and communicate such to all appropriate customers/vendors and AWC personnel
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment and company vehicles
- Able to react to change productively by working in a variety of situations and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Maintain a positive behavior and conduct in the workplace while acting and communicating with other customers, vendors, co-workers and management
- Good and regular attendance
- Observe and assist and perform any duties as assigned

- Ability to pass safe driving and rail safety video quizzes with 80% accuracy or higher
Education, Experience and Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to work a variable schedule
- Must have and maintain a valid State Driver license and maintain a good driving record
- Ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Ability to pass safe driving and rail safety video quizzes with 80% accuracy or higher
