Job Overview

The Painter / Fabricator will be responsible for preparing, priming, and applying paint and coatings to various surfaces, components, and equipment used in the manufacturing and assembly of control systems. This role ensures high-quality finishes that meet company standards and customer specifications. In addition, the position provides fabrication support by constructing items through cutting, shaping, and assembling various materials. Duties include working from blueprints and specifications, using hand and power tools, and occasionally operating heavy machinery to create products according to design.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as needed.
  • Mix and match paints to achieve desired colors and finishes.
  • Apply paint, varnish, or other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
  • Inspect finished work for quality, uniformity, and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain painting tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Follow safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and use of PPE.
  • Keep accurate records of materials used and work completed.
  • Collaborate with production teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Assemble and fabricate metal parts according to blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
  • Perform welding tasks, using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Operate various tools and equipment such as forklifts, press brake machines, shear equipment, and pipe threading machines.
  • Rig and move heavy materials and equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a painter in an industrial or manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and coating materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Physical capability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication and welding (highly desirable for production flexibility).
  • Solid mechanical knowledge and understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques for carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision
